Succession into two separate countries? I don’t think so. This country
is not really divided half Right, half Left. In fact, most of us are somewhere
in the middle, and even many “moderates” don’t see eye to
eye. In fact, truth be told, many of the blue states only went to Kerry based
on the big cities like NYC, San Francisco and LA; without those cities, those
states would have been red.
The truth of the matter is that both the left-wing liberals and the right-wing
religious conservatives are the same. Both sides call the rest of us ignorant
fools. The lefties say we are ignorant and not open-minded if we don’t
embrace homosexual marriage, socialized healthcare and welfare. The religious
zealots say we are evil if we are pro-choice, or if we don’t want our
country to be guided by religion and because we are against putting our citizens
in harm’s way simply to sanctify Israel.
The problem with the extreme right and the extreme left is that they only view
their own extreme views as valuable, and assume that everyone else is a convictionless
drone that must be converted to accept all of the views of one side or the other
as gospel.
The rest of us Americans hate you because you won’t leave us alone. We
are sick of being attacked with all of your propaganda and threats. We don’t
want our country to be led by the likes of either one of you. We just want to
be left alone to have our own thoughts, opinions, beliefs, religious viewpoints
and lifestyles. We don’t need you calling us godless or ignorant. No,
we trust in our own independent hearts and minds. We can see through the propaganda
of the popular media and make up our own minds. We’re not dumb drones.
In fact, many of us agree with the left sometimes and with the right at others.
But we are not going to join the ranks of either one of you because you will
only discount every one of our views that does not align with yours.
We are Americans. Free thinking Americans with varying ideals, opinions, morals
and values. We enjoy our freedom, the freedom to have our own thoughts and to
freely change them when we see fit. We have no desire to be pigeonholed.
So, I hate to burst your bubble, but we are not as dumb as you would like to
think. No, rather, we are just too smart to fall for your brainwashing propaganda.
